First Nations and Inuit Child Care Initiative (FNICCI)
Some First Nations and Inuit ISET Programs provide access to child care through the First Nations and Inuit Child Care Initiative (FNICCI). The FNICCI provides access to quality child care services for First Nations and Inuit parents who are starting a new job or participating in a training program.
With an investment of $50 million, the FNICCI has supported over 8,500 child care spaces in 486 First Nations and Inuit communities across Canada.
Depending on your local service delivery organization, the FNICCI offers pre-school spaces and after-school programs.
Indigenous Early Learning and Child Care Framework
In 2017, the Government of Canada engaged with Indigenous partners to co-develop the Indigenous Early Learning and Child Care Framework (IELCC). The IELCC reflects the unique cultures, languages, traditions, values, customs and needs of First Nations, Inuit and Métis children across Canada.
